Competition time!

We are very excited to announce a competition to win a free ticket and travel costs to attend InnovateELT 2018, courtesy of our video sponsor, ITN Productions. The winner will receive:

  • A free ticket to InnovateELT Conference on the 11-12th May 2018, in Barcelona
  • A free ticket to the ‘Making effective use of video in ELT’ Pre-Conference Training session in the daytime of the 11th May
  • £250 towards flights and accommodation

If you have already purchased a ticket to InnovateELT Conference, the cost of the ticket can be refunded in case you are a winner. 

How to enter the competition?

1. Watch

Watch this ITN production ELT video about Working Dogs, aimed at A2 level.

2. Read

Look at the resource sheet accompanying the video here.

3. Plan

Plan a lesson that uses the video or the activities.

4. Film

Film your learners answering at least one of the following questions:
– Which of the places in the video would you most like to visit and why?
– What other animals can you think of that do jobs?
– What did you like about the video?
– Why do you like using videos to help you improve your English?
To record the video you can use your preferred device, either a video camera or a mobile phone. You can film individual learners speaking to the camera or responses from a group of students, and the films can be anything from 10 seconds to 10 minutes long per video. You can upload various videos on the form.

5. Submit

Fill in this form (making sure you upload the video) by 23:59 GMT on the 10th of April.

The winner will be chosen by an ELTjam and ITN Productions judging panel based on the quality of the responses. We will take into account how interesting and engaging the responses are but not judge on technical quality. The winner will be announced by 5pm BST on Thursday 12th April 2018.

To enter the competition you must plan a lesson that uses the ITN Productions ELT video and submit a video of your learners answering one or more of the questions listed above via this form by 23:59 GMT on 10th April 2018. Entries received after that date and time will not be considered. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Students filmed must be 16 years of age or older and have provided you with their or, where under 18 years of age, their parental consent. By entering the competition, entrants warrant that they have obtained all copyright, proprietary and moral rights in any video submitted and hereby assign these rights to ITN Productions. One (1) individual winner will be notified via email by 5pm GMT on 12th April 2018. The winner will be selected on the merit of their video submission by an ELTjam and ITN Productions judging panel. If the selected winner does not respond within five (5) days of being contacted, we may select an alternative winner. The winner will receive one (1) free ticket (or will be reimbursed the price they paid if they have already purchased a ticket(s)) to each of a) the InnovateELT Conference on the 11-12th May 2018 in Barcelona (other terms and conditions may apply) and b) the ‘Making effective use of video in ELT’ Pre-Conference Training session on 11th May, plus £250 towards flights and accommodation (the “Prize”). Any further costs incurred by virtue of using the Prize will be the responsibility of the winner. By submitting an entry to the competition you give ITN Productions a) the ability to use your competition entry for marketing services to third parties and to publicise the competition without additional compensation or prior notice; and b) the right to use your name for the sole purpose of identifying you as the winner of the competition.
